Chapter One
The Road
Back Basics
“When I first read your website, I thought no way. This is
too simple. Barley? Give me a break. I figured I really didn’t have anything to
lose. I felt like crap warmed over anyway. Two weeks later and I mean two weeks
later, I am a new man! The fog has cleared, the depression is gone, and my wife
has a husband again. Barley, who would have thought? Needless to say, I was not
surprised when the Omega 3 and Body Calm did exactly what you said they would.
Thank you from the bottom of my big
Texas heart.”

People
from all over the
world send in testimonials like this every day, praising The Road Back Program
and how it has helped them regain their hold on life. Often, as this man said,
the program at first seems too simple. When something is simple, there could be
a tendency to disbelieve results. Nevertheless, the Road Back Program IS simple,
while also highly effective when followed using the correct supplements, and
completing all steps.
The Road Back Program is a very specific,
heavily researched, proven program. As noted above, I formulated this program to
help people get off all kinds of drugs, while reducing to almost zero the
crippling side effects often associated with coming off the drugs.
Newly formulated psychiatric medications seem
to incessantly roll out of research labs into distribution. But I have found
over the years that no matter what the drug’s formulation, The Road Back Program
is still effective. Since you are reading this book you most likely understand,
firsthand, the devastating side effects of psychiatric medications. As of today,
tens of thousands of people over the world have used The Road Back Program to
free themselves from those crippling bonds.
Which Side Effects Are You Suffering
From?
Due to the widely varying circumstances of the
many people who will read this book, I have outlined several scenarios
delineating where you might now stand, and how The Road Back Program will apply
to you. Establishing your current particular circumstances will be of great
benefit and provide a starting point for your progress on The Road Back Program.
Scenario One:
You are not
on any psychiatric medications, and
never have been, but are thinking about taking
these medications:
Debate and statistics hit the news nearly every
day about the effectiveness or potential harm caused by psychiatric drugs. The
confusions tend to mount further when the latest clinical trial results counters
the evidence published just last month.
I am not about to enter the fray of the
psychiatric drug debate with this book. The intent here is to offer hope and
solutions for those desiring to safely taper off psychiatric medication as well
as offer a few solutions to those seeking an alternative to psychiatric
medication.
If you are looking for a solution rather than
taking a psychiatric drug, this book offers nutritional answers and a simple
blood test that may provide the better way you are seeking. That word “may,”
should be capitalized, italicized, underlined, put in bold type and
double-sized.
Certainly, while nutrition is not the answer
for all of the ills that might beset our lives, neither is a drug the answer.
If your symptoms are caused or perpetuated by
deficiencies in a specific or broad range of vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids,
enzymes, protein, etc, then this part of the program will probably be the answer
for you.
Scenario Two:
You are on one or
more
psychiatric medications and want to withdraw from these drugs:
You are a prime candidate for The Road Back
Program. You may or may not be experiencing side effects from your medications.
You may or may not have tried to taper before. You may have been on your
medications for a few days or many years.
You will find tremendous benefit and success
with The Road Back Program.
Scenario Three:
You have started to taper off and are suffering:
Dr. Donald E. McAlpine, Psychiatry and
Psychology, Mayo Clinic notes: "It's important to taper off slowly, extending
the taper over several weeks under your physician's direction. When you stop too
quickly, you may experience so-called discontinuation symptoms, which can
masquerade as relapse."
The Road Back Program has been designed to help
you get back on track and succeed with the tapering process.
This can take a little more time
initially, but there IS a way back.
Scenario Four:
You have
already tapered off your medications and are still suffering, or stopped the
medication “cold turkey”:
Due to the nature and composition of
psychiatric medications and their effects on the body, withdrawal side effects
can plague you long after complete withdrawal. Such “protracted” or continuing
withdrawal side effects are probably the most difficult situation to deal with.
The Road Back Program can be effective and successful in eliminating these side
effects from your life.
Stopping your medication “cold turkey” or
tapering off too quickly cause many of the same side effects, and often to the
same magnitude. This situation usually requires the longest road back, but can
be accomplished. Many people start to feel better one week into the program and
reach a major positive change by the fourteenth day of the program.
Scenario Five:
You have all
four of the points listed below:
In the past, The Road Back could not help a
person who fit the following four points. Today we have a program for you as
well.
These four points are:
-
You are sensitive to all supplements and
most foods.
-
You came off your medications and suffered
extreme withdrawal symptoms.
-
You are still experiencing “protracted”
withdrawals, even though off your medications.
-
You have been off your medications for at
least six months.
There was a time The Road Back Program would not help a
person within Scenario Five. Research breakthroughs during 2010 now allows a
person that falls in this category to have a very good chance of recovery.
I urge you to not give up hope. This
program should get you fully recovered from the medication.
